Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ Video Sets Viewing Records
The video for Ariana Grande‘s “Thank U, Next” has set viewing records, becoming the most viewed video on YouTube in the first 24 hours of its release.
With over 50 million views in the 24 hours since its release at 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, Grande’s video blew past the record of BTS‘s “Idol,” which garnered 45 million views on its debut in August.
According to YouTube, “Thank U, Next” also set the record for most-viewed video that used YouTube’s Premiere scheduling feature with 829,000 viewers watching simultaneously at its peak.
The Hannah Lux Davis directed video, with references to Grande’s exes and lyrics on her romantic life, features recreated scenes from Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde.
Stars making an appearance in the clipping include, Kris Jenner, Jonathan Bennett, Stefanie Drummond, Jennifer Coolidge, Troye Sivan and YouTube stars Colleen Ballinger and Gabi DeMartino, in addition to “Thank U, Next” co-songwriters Tayla Parx and Victoria Monét.
The non-album single which released after her fourth album Sweetener, gave Grande her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, currently dominates the chart for a third straight week.
