Alex Jones: ‘It gets annoying’ The One Show host on being ‘bombarded’ during pregnancy
The One Show host Alex Jones, 42, is expecting her second baby with husband Charlie Thomson. The pair are already parents to two-year-old son Teddy. Last month, Alex revealed she dislikes receiving advice about parenting from others. In a discussion about parenthood with Libby Clegg MBE, 29, on podcast Guide Dogs: By My Side, Alex quizzed the latter about being given advice.
It kind of gets annoying, doesn’t it?

Alex said to Libby: “You must’ve been bombarded with advice, as everybody is at the beginning, and it kind of gets annoying, doesn’t it?
“You just think, ‘We’re going to do it our way and we will find our own way.’”
Alex added: “And when you’re pregnant, very often you are just gearing up for the day of the birth and don’t really see passed that point,” which Libby agreed with.
During the same chat, Alex addressed a family problem regarding her parents and in-laws.
Alex asked Libby if her and her partner Dan Powell would have any help from their family when the baby arrived.
Libby replied: “We don’t have any family support at the mo because we live so far away from them.”(sic)
Alex then spoke of her own “problem” with her parents and in-laws living far away.
“We have the same problem,” she said.
Explaining further, she added: “One set is in New Zealand, Auckland, and one set is in Wales, it’s not on the doorstep type of stuff.”
Libby has since given birth to a baby boy called Edward, announcing the news on her Instagram with 1,681 followers.
Alex is currently on maternity leave from The One Show and will temporarily be replaced by the likes of Emma Willis, 43, and Stacey Dooley, 32.
Alex previously admitted she went back to work “too soon” as she feared losing her job after her first pregnancy.
Speaking on Lorraine to stand in presenter Christine Lampard, 40, last year, she said: “I went back a bit too soon.
“Before you have a baby you don’t really understand how it’s going to chagce you,” she added.
“I made promises that were sort of unrealistic.
“Anyone who respects their job, they are scared about someone stepping in and doing it better. It is a worry.”
The One Show continues tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
