Mum mauled by devil dog who tore a huge hole in her arm and dragged her into busy road

A MUM was mauled by a dog that dragged her into a busy road and tore a huge hole in her arm.

Danielle Jones, 23, missed her daughter's first words as she spent days at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham having hours of surgery.

The big Alsatian crossed with a Rottweiler was being walked by the owner’s 14 year old son on July 28, when it “just went for her like a wild animal”.

She said: “It bit my arm and dragged me into the road. I was screaming for the boy to pull it off me and he was trying.

“The owner came running out, grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and pulled it off and just said ‘it needs putting down anyway’.

"I didn’t even get an apology or anything.”

I’m having nightmares about it

Danielle was left writhing in so much pain and recalled seeing “the fat and flesh” coming out of her arm.

Medics repaired her triceps muscle as the the dog almost tore a chunk out of a sensitive nerve.

Police say the owner had the dog put down on the day of the attack.

Danielle describes herself as “lucky” that she didn’t have her 10-month-old daughter with her at the time.

She added: “I’m having nightmares about it and waking up in the night, I’m crossing the road now if I see other dogs on the street, I’m so lucky that my daughter wasn’t with me.

“My family and friends are having to help me with my daughter and I even missed the first time she said ‘mum’ as I was in hospital – no mum wants to miss that.”

The dog has since been taken to be put down by the owner and the police are investigating the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident can call West Midlands Police on 101.
