Why has Coronation Street been cancelled tonight, when is it next on and will Emmerdale and EastEnders still air as usual?

THIS is not a drill! There is no Coronation Street on TV tonight. But why has it been cancelled and what about your other favourite soaps like EastEnders and Emmerdale?

Let’s find out what’s going on in soapland…

Why has Coronation Street been cancelled tonight?

There won’t be the usual double helping of Corrie episodes tonight because the England match is filling its ITV slot.

The team is taking on Montenegro in a qualifier game for Euro 2020.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm which is slap bang in the middle of Corrie’s usual 7.30pm slot on a Monday.

When is Coronation Street on next?

Don’t worry though because Corrie will be back on Wednesday night.

It will air in its usual slots of 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

What about Emmerdale and EastEnders?

Soap fans have a double-whammy of disappointment tonight as Emmerdale has also been cancelled to make way for the England game.

It will be back tomorrow (Tuesday March 26) at its usual time of 7pm however.

And the good news – there had to be some – is that EastEnders will air as normal tonight. That’s 8pm on BBC One in case you’d forgotten.

Keanu Taylor arrives back in the Square tonight and Brookside legend Paul Usher makes his Walford debut as gangster Danny Hardcastle.
