Coronation Street cast mock Faye Brookes for 'acting like she'd won an Oscar' and retweeting praise for her own acting in soap's factory collapse episode

CORONATION Street stars have been mocking Faye Brookes for retweeting a stream of posts praising her OWN performance in the factory collapse.

The actress has shared endless plaudits about her portrayal of Kate Connor on her Instagram feed – and at one point had more than 50 posts up after the episode aired.

On Wednesday evening Faye’s fiancé Gareth Gates whisked her to London for a champagne-filled evening to celebrate – leaving some castmates to comment that she’s “carrying on like she’d won an Oscar”.

A soap insider revealed: “A few eyebrows have been raised among the more level-headed members of the cast, that’s for sure.

“A few people are scratching their heads about why Faye is milking the limelight so much. In fact, she’s creating her own publicity.

“At the end of the day she was doing her job, like any of the cast. It’s what they do day in day out. All these posts she’s putting up from fans about how great she is are just self-glorification.”

They continued: “People could understand if she was a kid but she’s 31 and needs to tone down the back slapping. You wouldn’t see a Jack P.Shepherd or a Kym Marsh acting like this.

“And all the stuff with Gareth in London. It was like she’d won an Oscar or something. She needs to tone it down a bit and remember she’s in Corrie. She’s no Meryl Streep.”

Gareth  heaped praise on Faye after her on-screen lover, Rana Habeeb, died in the factory collapse.

He shared a picture of himself and Faye out for dinner as they celebrated the episode.

He wrote: "Thank you for the most amazing evening with my lady @faye_brookes – celebrating her incredible episode of @coronationstreet this evening. So proud of you baby x".

But he was slammed by fans for revealing what happened, as he posted at 8.42pm during the ad break – before Rana died shortly before 9pm.

Rana – who is played by actress Bhavna Limbachia – was crushed in the factory collapse on her wedding day, leaving fans of the show devastated.
