Warrington star Daryl Clark played along when told he was re-joining Castleford

DARYL Clark can finally say he is not re-joining Castleford at the end of the season after being so dogged by constant rumours he played along with them!

The Warrington hooker heads home tonight as he hails from the Ferry Fryston area of the West Yorkshire town, or in other words that housing estate around the back of the Railway End.

But ever since he moved from his home town club he has been plagued by people saying to him, ‘You’re coming back next season.’

That can now end after he signed a new deal until 2023 but that did not stop him nodding in agreement after he heard the same thing so many times.

He did, though, leave the door open to coming back after the end of his new contract.

Clark, who admitted he spoke to his partner about trying his luck in Australia, said: “I’ve had it at the end of every season since I went.

“Something always pops up that I’m going back, to the point where I had a little joke about it. When someone has said it to me about five times, I just ended up agreeing with them!

“But at the end of this deal I’ll only be 30 or 31-years-old and I’d like to think I’d have a few years left in me at that stage.”

There was never a danger of England man Clark ever leaving Warrington, where he has rediscovered the form at Castleford that alerted the Wolves in the first place.

Now he aims to silence the family and friends that will be watching him, secretly hoping he does OK.

The 26-year-old added: “All my family is in Castleford and my friends that I went to school with or played junior rugby alongside.

“I always enjoy going back and I’ll spend an hour with them after the game. It adds a bit of extra spice and I do get a bit of stick off them.”
