Pacquiao backs McGregor to beat Mayweather in a rematch – if they meet in MMA – The Sun

CONOR MCGREGOR would beat Floyd Mayweather if the two were to ever fight again, according to Manny Pacquiao.

That’s if the showdown occurred inside the cage instead of a boxing ring.

Undefeated “Money” overcame UFC star “Notorious” with ease in a mega-money Las Vegas showdown back in August 2017.

They have been linked with a rematch ever since, with McGregor keen to get Mayweather onto the Octagon for a clash in his speciality.

Pacquiao, 40, knows Mayweather well after their high-profile match-up four years ago.

And when quizzed who would win if the pair met once more, the Filipino legend believes McGregor would come out on top if it was under MMA rules.

Pac Man, who faces Keith Thurman on Saturday, told ESPN: “MMA and boxing is different, especially boxing.

“In boxing if you don't have enough stamina, you'll be in trouble.

“They both can compete but the thing is it depends what arena they're going to fight.

“If you're going to fight in MMA rules, the MMA fighter has the advantage.”

Mayweather, 41, last fought in an exhibition bout against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa last year where he demolished the youngster.

His last competitive action was against McGregor.

The former five-weight world champion still insists he is retired – but Pacquiao is ready and waiting for another crack at him should he change his mind.

He added: “If he coming back and decided to fight me, I'm here.”
