N'Golo Kante opens up on moment he heard news of tragic Vichai helicopter crash while preparing for Chelsea game

Kante, part of the Foxes side that won the Premier League, was preparing for Chelsea’s trip to Burnley when the helicopter tragically crashed on October 27.

France’s World Cup winner spent a year at the King Power Stadium before a £30million move to Stamford Bridge.

Kante said in Chelsea’s match day programme: “When I heard about this accident, we were preparing for a game and I was speechless.

“I was surprised about how he died, how something like this can happen and life changes so quick.

“In the end, you need to understand what life is and remember the legacy he left behind him.”

Kante opened up about the impact the popular Leicester owner had on his career.

He said: “I feel privileged to have met him because when I first came to Leicester it was my first club in England – a new country and a new club.

“I really saw an owner who was close to all the players. He was always there to have a good word or make the players happy, like a family, to make them feel good with simple things.

“He would shake your hand and speak to you, and he was really behind all the players. Even if it was for one year, to have known him was a privilege.”
