Deontay Wilder could snub £75million Anthony Joshua offer to sign with Showtime

DEONTAY WILDER is set to snub a £75MILLION offer from Anthony Joshua.

AJ’s American broadcast backers DAZN met with the Bronze Bomber and his management team on Tuesday to discuss a three-fight deal.

That would have included a warm-up, then a unification fight AND a rematch between WBC champ Wilder and Watford hero Joshua, the WBA, IBF and WBO king.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, who has been at loggerheads with Wilder’s camp for almost two years, had hoped the influence of DAZN boss John Skipper would secure the deal.

But Wilder, 33, is now set to re-sign with longtime broadcasters Showtime in a deal that will all but end any hopes of the fight the whole boxing world wants to see.

When Tyson Fury signed his exclusive five-fight deal with ESPN in February, ending his interest in a Wilder rematch, the 6ft 7in American revealed he was a free agent and could fight Joshua instead.

But the Alabama Slammer’s Showtime contract will mean all three of the planet’s top heavyweights must have their fights shown on rival US broadcasters, where PPV sales are most lucrative.

Wilder must make up his mind by Tuesday — when he is scheduled to officially announce his mandatory WBC defence against Dominic Breazeale.

Joshua, 29, makes his Stateside debut in a fight with ex-kickboxer Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on June 1.

The former Olympic champ can expect a career-high purse of around £25m but Joshua has admitted his disappointment at the level of opponent.

DAZN are serious players in the boxing broadcast market, after signing Mexican icon Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to an 11-fight deal worth £278m.

But they are struggling to prise Wilder away from his watertight relationship with mysterious advisor Al Haymon.
