Damir Skomina named referee for Champions League final… and it's bad news for Liverpool

DAMIR SKOMINA has been appointed referee for the Champions League final but it could be a bad omen for Liverpool.

The Slovenian has taken charge of five Reds games in the past in which they have lost four and won just one.

Liverpool did manage to end their losing streak under Skomina when they beat Napoli 1-0 earlier in the season.

He first officiated a Liverpool match in 2009 when the home side crashed to defeat against Fiorentina at Anfield.

Six years later the Reds would then lose against Besiktas before he oversaw yet another defeat against Villarreal.

And he would also ref Liverpool's 4-2 defeat against Roma last season although the Premier League side did progress on aggregate.
