Tearful size six bride-to-be was called FAT by her mum as she searches for her dream wedding dress with Gok Wan on Say Yes To The Dress

A PETITE bride was reduced to tears on Say Yes To The Dress after her mum branded her "fat".

Size six Jacinthe is set to marry her fiancé Tom in less than five months at a floating restaurant in Hong Kong.

She left buying her dress until the last minute and told the TLC show she had a budget of £1,200.

Jacinthe was under pressure to please her friends and her mum – who rules the roost from Hong Kong.

Talking to presenter Gok Wan, the special episode from Lancashire follows her emotional rollercoaster as she tries on a host of dresses.

But there are tears and tissues as Jacinthe reveals her mum slammed a previous dress she wore.

She told the super stylist: “I’ve actually bought a dress before.

“I’ve showed a picture to my mother, but she did not like it at all.

“So I really want to find something that will please her.”

The bride-to-be explains: 'I'm very close to my mum. She's very brutal but I really want to find something that will please her.”

But as she tries on a dress, her mum’s words haunt her and she bursts into tears as she rubs her stomach in a £1,299 gown from Lux and Love.

She sobs: “I feel like I’m going to cry, I feel really fat… My mum said.”

But Gok, 44, reassures her: “You feel fat? There is more fat on a chip!”

She needs to find a suitable dress which will please her conservative mum, as she discards an £899 Stella York her mum wouldn’t approve of.

Jacinthe says: “It’s just something my mum would like and not what I like.

“I’m very indecisive and always trying to please everybody.”

Her friends, Clarissa and James, understand her predicament, and chip in with advice.

James says: “I really like it but I know the top bit isn’t the traditional route.

“I know your mum isn’t going to approve of that. I know she won't.”

Jacinthe agrees, saying: “This is a beautiful dress but Mum will actually go mad at me.

“She’ll probably shout at me or not speak to me.”

Eventually she settles on an off-the-shoulder lace number by Enzoani, which costs £1,200 with alterations – just in budget.

Relieved to have found a suitable dress, she gushes: “I finally found my dress and feel so relieved.

“I can’t wait to get married to Tom – and it will also please my mum, too.”

But in the end Jacinthe puts herself first, and changes her mind by picking the much more revealing dress she tried on first.

She said: “After 24 hours of saying yes to the dress I’ve changed my mind again to dress number one.

“I’ve decided to put myself first – not my mum, not my friends, just me.”

Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire airs tonight at 9pm on TLC.
