Binky Felstead has been criticised by angry fans for a sponsored Instagram post plugging growing-up milk

The 28-year-old was slammed for promoting growing-up milk by an army of fans who claim it to be a "completely unnecessary" product.

Taking to the social media platform earlier today, Binky wrote: "India has a new surprise for me every day, she’s recently gone from hopping around on her knees like a bunny to learning to walk and has even started running.

"She’s also started saying her first few words and I can’t wait until we can have proper chats.

"With so many things to learn, I try to make sure India gets all the right nutrients to help her along the way.

"I recently learnt that your toddler needs 4.5 times the amount of iron as an adult male!

"This is all relative to their size, but got me thinking about the different ways I can help India get this source of iron on a diet that is suitable for her.

"India loves her milk at night and when she turned 1, I started using the Aptamil Profutura Growing Up Milk.

"She seems to really enjoy it! It is nice to know that she is getting key nutrients vitamins A, C & D and iron from her milk and I totally believe that she is getting what she needs even if her broccoli sometimes ends up on the floor at mealtimes!

"I would recommend Aptamil Profutura Growing Up Milk. #AptamilProfuturaGrowingUpMilk #Ad.

"Disclaimer from Aptamil Profutura Growing Up Milk: Use as part of a balanced, varied diet from 1 year. With iron to support normal cognitive development."

Not long after the adorable image was posted, fans criticised the former Made in Chelsea star for plugging the product.

One wrote: "Binky I understand you need to support your family, but advertising these products isn't the way to do it.

"… Real food and milk are all your toddler needs."

While another said: "Follow on milk is unnecessary @binkyfelstead and was only invented by greedy formula companies as they weren't allowed to push marketing on newborn first milks.

"Disappointed you are advertising this."

Another commented: "Many studies have shown that these types of toddler milks have absolutely no benefit over cows milk and are a total waste of money" and another wrote: "This is not needed, you do not need formula after 12 months. Check NHS guideline."

One follower, however, diplomatically commented: "I think it's ok if it's your choice but if you're advertising I really think you need to have read up thoroughly on the issue surrounding follow on milk."

And another said: "Lots of mamas on the bandwagon about the types of formula.

"Opinions are always out there but as mamas we shouldn't bash other mamas as it's a hard enough job to raise a child in such a harsh world.

"I personally didn't need to give it to my boys as I breastfed but I don't knock those who do."

According to the NHS website, "growing-up and toddler milks are marketed as an alternative to whole cows' milk for toddlers and children aged over one.

"There's no evidence to suggest that these products provide extra nutrition benefits for young children.

"Whole cows' milk is a suitable choice as a main drink for your child from age one.

"Semi-skimmed cows' milk is a suitable main drink for children over two who are eating a balanced diet."

Fabulous Online has contacted Binky's representatives for comment.

Earlier this week, we showed you the toddler who feeds her mum chips as she’s being breastfed in a restaurant – and parents think it’s the ultimate family goal.

We also revealed glam mums urged NOT to worry about getting a bikini wax before giving birth… but midwives joke clean socks are appreciated.

And we showed you mum says ‘it’s OK to put yourself first’ as she shows off toned tum just TWO weeks after giving birth.
