Woman claiming to be ex of director Michael Winner robbed widow of gems and art worth £280,000 – The Sun

A WOMAN claiming to be film guru Michael Winner’s ex robbed his widow of gems and art totalling £280,000, a court heard.

Personal trainer Gurgana Gueorguieva, 48, yesterday admitted the 2016 raid.

But she denied causing injuries suffered by Geraldine Winner, then 77, on purpose.

The widow, now 81, says she was left with serious head wounds and a broken finger after she was beaten with a metal pole, hit with a kettle and tied up. Gueorguieva argues that the injuries were “accidental”.

She also disputes the value of the items and cash stolen from the £4million penthouse in posh Knightsbridge, West London. Gueorguieva says they were only worth £50,000.

A judge will now decide whether they believe her or Geraldine’s version of events at a so-called Newton hearing on September 26.

The outcome will have a bearing on the sentence handed to Gueorguieva, of Holland Park, West London.

Geraldine is expected to give evidence at Southwark crown court. Death Wish director Winner, 77, died in 2013 of heart and liver problems.
