Ted Cruz rips Eric Swalwell’s fartgate scandal with Steve Martin clip

Sen. Ted Cruz couldn’t resist ripping Rep. Eric Swalwell on Tuesday for appearing to fart on live television.

The Texas lawmaker tweeted out the iconic Ruprecht dinner scene from the 1988 comedy “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” showing Steve Martin’s character appearing to relieve himself at the table.

“Leaked footage of Swalwell on MSNBC last night…,” Cruz wrote.

Cruz was referring to the California Democrat’s appearance the night before on MSNBC’s “Hardball” during which he appeared to break wind halfway through his interview.

Swalwell denied he was to blame for the bodily function — with “Hardball” claiming the noise was the result of a coffee mug “scraping across the desk.”

Swalwell, who dropped out of the 2020 presidential race in July, has trolled Cruz online before.

Cruz’s jab may have been retribution for that.

Swalwell went after the senator in August for retweeting President Trump’s post promising to not build a Trump Tower in Greenland.

“Those houses are how small you looked when you let @realDonaldTrump trash your wife,” Swalwell wrote.
