 LONDONERS are still squeezing into cramped Tube carriages despite fears of spreading coronavirus.

People are being forced to break social distancing advice on their daily commutes.

The PM told the nation that everyone needs to be practising "social distancing" by avoiding pubs, clubs, restaurants and theatres to help slow the furious spread of the deadly virus.

But pictures show people in the nation's capital, who still have to go to work, are being forced to get into packed London underground carriages.

Boris Johnson said on Monday night everyone who could be working from home, should be working home.

The Department of Health has advised people to keep two metres between themselves and other people to stop the virus spreading.

It has proved almost impossible for people still commuting in London, who are either essential staff, or workers whose officers have not shut down.

Transport for London announced yesterday they were cutting the number of services and running on a weekend schedule as people abandoned public transport.

Commuters were upset at the lack of services, and took to twitter to vent about safety concerns.

One wrote: "This morning the Victoria line is running at a reduced service, how is this keeping commuters safe @tfl !?!? #Covid19"

According to a YouGov poll, 44 per cent of people said their workplace is still open, and only 11 per cent of people said their office had closed and they were working from home.

Nationwide, confirmed cases leapt from 1,950 to 2626 in the last 24 hours.

There have been 104 deaths from coronavirus so far.

He said anyone with the most serious health conditions and over 70s should stay away from others for as long as 12 weeks from this weekend to "shield" them from the virus.

London has been named the epicentre of the skyrocketing number of cases of COVID-19 and could be forced to go into total lockdown.

Boris said earlier this week the nation's capitol was "weeks ahead" of other parts of Britain.
