Family fears Arkansas woman who vanished nearly two weeks ago is in danger

An Arkansas woman disappeared nearly two weeks ago — and her desperate family fears she might be in danger, according to new reports.

Christy Rooks, 42, of Wynne, was last seen 12 days ago leaving her boyfriend’s home in Hazen, about an hour away, her family told WREG.

Since then, she hasn’t communicated with her loved ones, her distraught mom, Nellie Rooks, told the station.

“I don’t know any place she could be,” she said. “I’m scared somebody’s hurt her … and then it’s been cold and I’m thinking she’s somewhere hurt and she’s cold … You think everything. You really do.”

The Wynne Police Department told WREG their investigators have been working with other law enforcement agencies across the state — but would not confirm whether they had interviewed Christy’s boyfriend or other witnesses.

“The police are doing everything,” Nellie Rooks said, adding that she still fears the worst. “I try not to, but I really do. I really do.”

Authorities believe Christy is in danger because of the lack of communication, according to THV 11.

Christy travels often, but always keeps in touch, her mom told WREG.

“If she’s going to be gone very long, she’ll tell people to call me and let me know if I start asking where she’s at,” she said. “Let Mama know, you know?”

Erika Young, who identified herself as Christy’s cousin, commented under a post on the police department’s page, pleading for help.

“This is my cousin, and our family is working as hard and fast alongside the detectives as much as possible!” Young wrote. “Our wish is for Christy Lynn to come home safe and sound. It has been many days since anyone has seen or heard from her.”

Young has since changed her profile photo to an image of Christy with the hashtag #NeverGiveUp.

Christy is described as 5 feet 2 with blond hair and blue eyes. She weighs about 130 pounds.

She was last seen driving a 2013 white Nissan Altima with a recently repaired black front bumper.
