This is the moment a speeding white BMW skids into the wrong lane and smashes into a car before ricocheting into another following a high-speed police chase.

Shocking dash-cam footage shows the BMW 1 series spin out of control and slam into a car going in the other direction, before spinning into a second head on while fleeing police in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

The accident was filmed on Christmas Day and left the innocent driver involved in the head-on smash with injuries.

Tasham Mahmood of Heckmondwick in West Yorkshire, said: ‘I saw the driver lose control of their vehicle and when their car started to spin, I knew what was coming.

‘There was no time to react; all I could to was brace myself for impact, which was quite a heavy head-on collision.’

The crash came after the BMW driver with no licence or registration tried to speed away from police.

After the incident, police blocked the whole road off, and ambulances tended to the injured.

Mr Mahmood said: ‘A vehicle also went into the back of my car,’ 

‘So I was stuck in between the BMW and an Astra. Another lady was hurt badly as well. It was such a scary experience, I still think about it today.’ 

Richard Browning, Director at Nextbase, said: ‘This incident shows how Dash Cams have become a crucial part of the police investigation process. 

West Yorkshire police say they are continuing to investigate the incident

‘There are crimes committed on our roads and, even on Christmas Day, it benefits to have an extra pair of eyes on the road as you really never know what can happen. 

‘Cases can always be backed up by the footage captured on a Dash Cam, which shows irrefutable evidence that can then be used to strengthen the case against a culprit.’ 

West Yorkshire police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
