The Masked Singer's Traffic Cone's identity let slip by Russell Watson on GMB

RUSSELL Watson has denied he’s the Masked Singer’s Traffic Cone – but insists he knows who it is.

The singer, 55, is adamant it is his friend behind the mask, saying he recognises the voice having worked with him on numerous occasions.

Russell was quizzed about whether he was taking part in the singing competition during an appearance on Good Morning Britain today.

He quickly shut down the conversation telling Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: “I know who it is.”

The star explained: “The strange thing is, I didn’t know who it was when I saw the first performance, I had no idea. Then I heard the second performance and I know who it is. I’m absolutely certain.

“He’s not admitted it, he’s not mentioned it at all, but I’m convinced that is my mate Aled Jones.”

A number of fans also believe Traffic Cone could be Aled, but also The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

The major clue "I got smashed at Wimbledon" could refer to the TV star's stint playing football for AFC Wimbledon.

But comedian Rob Beckett decided to throw a spanner in the works last weekend.

He posted, midway through The Masked Singer, that he was the show's Traffic Cone writing: "Just send this out once I’ve been unmasked."

He went on: "Thanks for all the support being the Traffic Cone I absolutely loved it. Great show. The kids couldn’t believe it was me. 😂👊🏻."

The Twitter post – unless an extraordinary double-bluff – was widely considered to be a wind-up by the joker.
