Following the gripping scenes in episode 17, fans will be left twiddling their thumbs as NCIS Hawaii goes on a lengthy hiatus. As season two draws closer to its finale, viewers will have to wait three weeks before the show returns to CBS.

While many were disappointed by the lack of Lucy Tara (played by Yasmine Al-Bustami) scenes, others were pleased to see Joe Milius (Enver Gjokaj) back in action.

Alongside the skilled team of agents, they took on the case of a dangerous high-value US Government target.

Although they successfully closed the case, it will be a while before the team on NCIS Hawaii are back on screens.

Not only will the show not return in its usual slot next week, but the drama won’t air the following week either.

However, fans can take some consolation in the fact the drama is scheduled to make its comeback on April 10 in the USA.

Bosses have also remained tight-lipped about episode 18 by not releasing a synopsis, for the instalment titled Bread Crumbs.

Despite this, fans can find clues as to what lies ahead of Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) by reflecting on the most recent episode.

The captain was undergoing major changes in her personal life, concerning her son Alex Tennant (Kian Talan).

Not only had Alex applied for Naval College, but Jane also learned he was accepted to study in Annapolis.

Although he felt ready to take on the challenge, Jane and her ex-husband Daniel Tennant (Anthony Ruivivar) were concerned.

Daniel was particularly taken aback because Alex asked another man to write his letter of recommendation.

However, after an awkward family dinner, the parents agreed for Alex to head to Naval college.

This will undoubtedly be a major change for Jane, as she prided herself on successfully managing her demanding work/life balance.

Without Alex in Hawaii, viewers could see a more strained Jane as she tries to cope without an extra pair of hands around the house.

In the past, Alex has stepped up to make dinner and care for his younger sister, Julie Tennant (Mahina Napoleon), whenever Jane was working late.

This could also mean Daniel may have more regular appearances to help care for his daughter.

However, it’s yet to be determined what this could mean for her love life and viewers could find out more about the breakdown of their marriage.

NCIS Hawaii has confirmed season two will come to an end on Monday, May 22 and the finale will be a two-part event.

Thankfully for fans, there will be more from the NCIS spin-off as the drama has been renewed for season three, which will premiere later this year.

CBS President Amy Reisenbach stated: “This season CBS is continuing its winning tradition, delivering an unparalleled combination of top returning series and new hit shows that are entertaining huge audiences on both broadcast and streaming.

“It is a testament to the stellar work being done by our best-in-class talent in front of and behind the camera that we have had yet another exceptional season.

“And I know we will only continue to build on this foundation of outstanding programming as we look ahead toward next fall.”

NCIS Hawaii season 2 returns Monday, April 10 on CBS in the USA and continues on Wednesdays on Disney+ in the UK.
