Gogglebox family The Baggs dropped from show after just one series

Essex-based Gogglebox family The Baggs have been sensationally dropped from the Channel 4 show.

Mum Lisa, dad Terry and their sons George and Joe have left the hit show after just one series.

An insider said: "The Baggs family are out of the show and won’t be appearing anymore.

"They only lasted one series. It was short and sweet."

The move comes after the family were met with an online backlash.

After joining Gogglebox last year for its 16th series, they were slated by some viewers on social media.

One social networker said: "The Baggs family comments are pointless ‘oh I love this’ ‘oh I hate that’. No value added at all."

Another said: "How annoying are The Baggs family on gogglebox."

Only a handful of clips of the family were aired by producers.

And now they have been quietly dropped from the line-up of families for the current run.

But they haven’t ruled out bringing them back.

Our insider said: "The Baggs are on good terms with producers so there will always be a possibility that they’ll return at some point."

Channel 4 failed to respond to requests for comment last night.

The news comes after last week it was announced another castmate would be leaving the show.

Tom Malone Jr said he was leaving the show after six years for new opportunities.

Writing on his social media he said: "So after six years it's finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

"I've loved every minute and I'm eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it's time to explore them.

"I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid!"
