BBC’s Dan Walker exclaims ‘how dare you’ after being shut down by Carol Kirkwood

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker was left gobsmacked as weather presenter Carol Kirkwood fired a cheeky jibe in his direction during today’s show (April 19).

Dan and co-host Louise Minchin had been discussing the latest explosive Line of Duty episode when cameras cut to Carol, who had not yet caught up with the hit BBC drama.

“Carol, I hope you were keeping your ears closed and not listening to anything when we were talking about Line of Duty earlier,” Dan told Carol, who was standing not he roof of New Broadcasting House to deliver the weather forecast.

She replied: “Absolutely right Dan, as usual actually.”

Carol and the studio then burst into hysterics before Dan joked: “How dare you, that’s enough of the weather, thank you very much, see you tomorrow.”

The meteorologist laughed “oh, you cheeky thing”, before going into the weather forecast.

But it was clear her comment was still playing on Dan’s mind after she had finished.

“Wasn’t listening to a word of that Carol, thank you very much,” he laughed as the cameras cut back to the studio. “Sure it was brilliant though.”

Louise managed to fight back her laughter to jump to her colleague’s defense, adding: “I was [listening].”

It is not the first time BBC Breakfast presenters have been hilariously shut down live on air.

Naga Munchetty questioned whether a weatherman’s comment was “worth hearing” after he accidentally spoke over Charlie Stayt last week.

Dan also jokingly told a reporter to “stop talking” so he could enjoy the stunning scenery of Bristol during a hot air balloon ride.
