Wolves are busy searching for a new manager after announcing the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 47-year-old Portuguese won the Championship title during his first season at Molineux.

He subsequently recorded two seventh-placed finishes and guided the club to the Europa League quarter-finals – their first in nearly 50 years!

Nuno bid farewell to supporters after their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Afterwards he told reporters: "It has been emotional for all of us since we arrived at the stadium.

"The presence of the fans. It is a special day for all of us but a day of joy. A special day that will stay in our memories forever. I am very thankful to the fans."

But with Nuno now gone, attentions have turned to his replacement and there's no shortage of high-profile names in the mix.

Lage is Betfair's leading contender at 4/11.

The 45-year-old has limited managerial experience having lasted 18 months in charge of Benfica.

The Portuguese won the 2018-19 Primeira Liga title and boasted a 67 per cent win percentage before being relieved of his duties after a run of two victories in 13 matches.

Wolves have been planning for Nuno's successor for a few months now.

And Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims talks are already ongoing between the Midlands club and Lage's representatives.

Romano wrote on Twitter: "Wolves have contacted former Benfica manager Bruno Lage as ‘main option’ to replace Nuno Espirito Santo who’s leaving the club. Talks ongoing."

Paulo Fonseca, who guided Roma to the Europa League semi-finals this season, comes next at 9/2.

The 48-year-old is now a free agent having been replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Vitor Pereira and Rafa Benitez are next in the betting market at 9/1 and 10/1 respectively with Andre Villas-Boas also available at 10s.

Rui Faria and Scott Parker are locked at 12s with Athletic Bilbao chief Marcelino offered at 14/1.

John Terry, who is still looking to land his first role in management, is priced at 16/1 – the same as Belgium's Roberto Martinez.

Chris Wilder is 18/1 and the outsiders of the field are Eddie Howe and Frank Lampard, who are both available at 20/1.
