Sutton Foster to star with Hugh Jackman in Broadway’s ‘Music Man’

Hugh Jackman has his next leading lady: Sutton Foster.

The two-time Tony winner will star as Marian Paroo opposite Jackman’s Harold Hill in the upcoming revival of “The Music Man”

The casting news came by way of a cryptic post on Foster’s Instagram Monday morning.

The “Wolverine” star teased his return to the  Broadway musical stage earlier this month via an Instagram image of a travel trunk bearing the name tag of the 1957 Meredith Wilson musical’s lead character.

But he had already warned us this was in the works.

“It’s been so great …to be able to dip in and out [of the stage] in between movies,” Jackman told The Post in December. “It’s a really difficult thing to find 18 months of your life to go on Broadway — but I’m ready. So I’ll be going back.”

The “Boy from Oz” Tony winner will star as “Professor” Hill, a charming traveling con man who poses as a small-town marching band leader in Iowa. He secretly scams to steal cash he collects for musical instruments and uniforms — but uptight librarian Marian (Foster) sees through his scam and plans to expose him.

Until they fall for each other, of course.

Foster — known for a her powerhouse belt — earned her Tonys for “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Anything Goes.” She’s also well-known to small screen audiences as the star of “Younger” on TV Land.

“The Music Man” revival, to be directed by Jerry Zaks (“Hello, Dolly”), will begin previews at a Shubert Theatre on Sept. 9, 2020. Opening night is Oct. 22. Ticket sales launch June 9.
