Starving dog who has ‘seen the worst of humanity’ hurled from car over gate

Heartbreaking images show the horrific condition a skeletal dog which was hurled over the locked gate of an animal sanctuary was left in.

Casper had several growths on his body, long nails and sore toes when he was taken in by Rescue Me Animal Shelter near Maghull in Sefton, Merseyside.

Staff, who tweeted the images, said the poor dog, who was so thin his bones could be seen through his ribs, had been exposed to 'the worst of humanity', the Liverpool Echo reports.

On Halloween , the shelter tweeted: "While settling the new pups in this evening, a car pulled up outside and threw this skeletal poor old lurcher boy over our gates."

Casper's condition has now improved after being treated by kind sanctuary staff.

Save Our Scouse Cats tweeted: "An update from Rescue Me Animal Shelter.

"Safe, comfy and on two hourly feeds, the vet is coming out to Casper tomorrow to avoid even more stress for him.

"Dear Casper, you've seen the worst of humanity, now you are seeing the best."

The heartbreaking images of Casper stunned Twitter users

One wrote: "He looks such a sweet natured dog. What is wrong with people, this lot should be locked up [for the] full five years."

While Ange wrote: "So glad they brought him to you. Poor little fella."
