Queen ‘played a blinder’ and ‘read nation’s mood’ when deciding Harry’s future

The Queen read the nation's mood perfectly when deciding on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future roles within the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.

Ingrid Seward says the Monarch "played a blinder" when coming up with a plan for how the Sussex family will carry on after they announced they plan to step back from their senior roles with the Firm.

Harry admitted he didn't get the deal he hoped for in the crisis talks which have been going on behind Palace walls ever since the couple dropped their bombshell statement – without consulting the rest of the family.

Their decision was met with mixed reaction, with some respecting their decision but others upset and angry, which Ingrid believes the Queen has taken into account when making the final call on what they will and won't be allowed to do in future.

Writing for the Sun , Ingrid says: "Make no mistake, as uncomfortable as her decision will have been, the Queen has played a blinder.

"Our monarch of 67 years has read the mood of the nation expertly. We like — we love — our Queen here in Britain.

"But we are not prepared to pay the way for her multi-millionaire grandson — £10million inheritance from his mum and £7million from the Queen Mum — if he no longer wishes to be a full-time royal."

The Queen beamed yesterday as she arrived at church in Sandringham with Prince Andrew.

It was the first time she's been seen since releasing an extraordinary statement on Harry and Meghan's future on Saturday night, finally resolving the 'Megxit' drama.

The monarch stepped out of her Bentley just after Prince Andrew, who waited for his mother to head inside the chapel before following her.

The Queen was wearing a grey and white coat with a matching hat with grey and white flowers.

Harry addressed the deal in an emotional speech at the Ivy Chelsea Club in London at an event for his charity Sentebale last night.

He wasted no time in tackling head on the issues that have been swirling around him and Meghan since they announced their plans to quit.

He began: "So, I want you to hear the truth from me, as much as I can share – not as a Prince, or a Duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the last 35 years – but with a clearer perspective.

"The UK is my home and a place that I love. That will never change.

"I have grown up feeling support from so many of you, and I watched as you welcomed Meghan with open arms as you saw me find the love and happiness that I had hoped for all my life.

"Finally, the second son of Diana got hitched, hurray!"

Harry went on to explain how his and Meghan's decision to leave his senior role in The Firm had caused them 'great sadness'.

"I also know you’ve come to know me well enough over all these years to trust that the woman I chose as my wife upholds the same values as I do," he continued.

"And she does, and she’s the same woman I fell in love with.

"We both do everything we can to fly the flag and carry out our roles for this country with pride.

"Once Meghan and I were married, we were excited, we were hopeful, and we were here to serve.

"For those reasons, it brings me great sadness that it has come to this."
