Lidl is selling a hammock for £6.99 so you can pretend you're on holiday

If you’ve never experienced the pure bliss of lounging in a hammock, book in one hand, cocktail in another, you’re missing out.

It’s a truly peaceful experience.

Just ignore the awkwardness of getting into the damn thing.

For a long time our joyful hammock moments have only been possible on holiday, when we happen to have booked an Airbnb with a massive garden and some trees.

But no more (possibly… with some caveats).

Lidl is now selling a hammock for the bargain price of £6.99, meaning it can be hammock time year round.

It’s a pretty nice hammock, too, available in blue, green or brown. Lidl describes it as a ‘large, comfortable surface area for relaxing’ (sounds good to us) made of ‘sturdy and durable fabric with a high cotton content’.

It’s only suitable for one person at a time, though, so clingy couples may want to look elsewhere. It can hold 150kg, though, so you cat should be able to join you in your laidback hammock snooze.

To suspend your hammock, you just loop the two suspension bits at the end around something strong and sturdy.

That’s where you might fall into some issues… does anyone actually have a garden big enough for two large trees sat the perfect distance apart?

Would it really be a wise idea to nail a hammock to the walls in your rented property? We think not.

Ponder these things before you buy a hammock, we urge you.

Yes, £6.99 may be a bargain, but it’s pointless if you’ve got nowhere to hang your hammock.

We’d recommend only buying one if you’re one of the blessed few with a garden and something stable enough to hold your hammock without a wobble, or you’re heading on a beach holiday and don’t want to count on your accommodation providing comfortable seating.

For us, that means a farewell to our hammock dreams. If anyone’s buying, though, we’d love to create some sort of rent-a-hammock deal? We could really do with that level of chill, without fearing for our flat deposit.
