Asda is giving away free bags of leftover veggies today

SUPERMARKET Asda is giving away free bags of vegetables unsold from Easter weekend to help stop waste.

Shoppers across the country have found free bags of carrots, swedes, parsnips and spring greens being given away for free.

The veggies were priced at 20p each. One bargain hunter said that there is a limit of two bags per customer.

The free vegetables have been spotted at shops in Chelmsford, Sunderland, Aberdare in Wales and Norfolk.

Not every branch has the deal, as stock varies between stores.

It's advisable to call up your local branch to check if they are giving away free veggies before you make the trip.

There are over 600 Asda stores in the UK. Visit the Asda website to find your nearest one.

The bargain was spotted by a shopper in The Sun's Money saving tips and deals Facebook group.

The shopper said: "Asda are giving this veg away FREE today. 2 bags per customer."

"I would ring first and check if it has started as mine doesn't until later this afternoon".

Some shoppers have found bags of vegetables discounted to 10p.

Its not the first time that the supermarket has given away free food.

At Christmas it gave away huge boxes of leftover veggies to shoppers to help prevent waste.

Bargain hunters have also been on the hunt for discounted Easter egg and chocolate – and prices start from just 25p.
