Royal fans claim Prince William calls Princess Charlotte sweet French nickname ‘mignonette’

ROYAL fans are convinced that Prince William has a secret French nickname for Princess Charlotte after a video of the family playing in Kate Middleton's Chelsea Flower Show garden was released this week.

The sweet clip shows the Duke of Cambridge, 36, asking Prince George to rate the Back to Nature exhibit out of 10 before having a go on the rope swing himself.

Although the majority of the video – which was shared on both the official Kensington Palace Twitter and Instagram pages – has subtitles, there is a short clip where William addresses Charlotte which has been missed.

Sending Royal fans into a frenzy, some believe that the royal father-of-three refers to his daughter as "mignonette" which translates as "cute" and "delicate" in French.

However, others believe Prince William asks Charlotte: "Have you been on here?"

Flooding the Kensington Royal social media accounts with comments, one user asked: "Anyone notice right before he asked Charlotte to push him, he called her by a lovely nickname?

"Some from [Kensington Palace's Instagram's] comment section suggested William called her 'Mignonette' which means 'delicate'."

Another added: "Love this! Will uses term of endearment 'mignonette', a sweet nickname for Princess Charlotte.

"It's French mignon, meaning dainty or darling, similar to saying 'cutie or sweetie'."

Meanwhile, a third gushed: "William is calling his daughter Mignonette! How sweet."

But others were less convinced by the new nickname and think William was trying to encourage Charlotte to play on the swing instead.

One wrote: "I hear the end of the question, 'Have you been on it?'

"With us hearing the 'been on it' part. That would also make sense, given that he then asks Charlotte for a push. (Charlotte would rather run off to do her own thing, of course.)"

Supporting this statement, another added: "He says, 'have you been on here?'"

After all, this isn't the first time a sweet Royal nickname has been revealed to the public.

Earlier this year, The Sun exclusively revealed that five-year-old told a surprised dog walker that his real name was Archie – three months before his cousin Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor arrived.

What's more, Fabulous Digital exclusively revealed in January that Kate Middleton affectionately calls her husband "baldy" while Wills refers to her as "Duchess of Dolittle."

In more Royal Family news, Prince Harry gives Meghan Markle "the look of love" more than she does, her doppelganger has claimed.

And Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have bid farewell to "indispensable" gran Doria Ragland as she flew home to the US earlier this week.

Plus The Queen paid touching tribute to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when she was out with Kate and William by wearing the exact same outfit she wore for their wedding.
