Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'to build Archie an adventure garden so he will be outdoorsy'

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have decided to build baby Archie an adventure garden so he will grow up to love the outdoors, reports claim.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent £3million renovating Frogmore Cottage in Windsor after the 19th century house was given to them by the Queen.

As well as adapting the home to make it the perfect place to raise their first child, the royal couple have also been making changes to the grounds.

Sources claim the new parents have included some baby-friendly features in their garden – including a swing as well as several water features including a pond.

"The Duchess feels that the garden should be a place for their first child Archie to play and experience the great outdoors as well as themselves,” a source told the Mirror.

"Living in the countryside, the Duchess feels that if Archie has a nice garden, then he will like the countryside much more as he grows up.

"Provision has been made inside but the outside is just as important."

The Sun previously reported that Meghan and Harry will be living the Good Life at Frogmore Cottage as they are planning on growing their own food in an organic vegetable plot.

The Duchess of Sussex is understood to be hoping to grow her own vegetables, herbs and soft fruits within the spacious grounds at their new home.

As a keen foodie, Meghan has previously spoken about her love of home-grown and organic produce on her lifestyle blog, The Tig, which was shut down after her wedding.

She is likely to run her Frogmore garden under the organic principles that both she and her father-in-law, Prince Charles, live by.

A royal source told the Daily Mail: “The duchess has a passion for cooking so it was suggested to include a small plot in the spacious garden where they can grow some of their own produce.

“She regularly cooks for Prince Harry and the cottage will be the perfect place for her to prepare meals with some home grown produce from their own garden.

Meghan and Harry currently don’t have any staff at Frogmore Cottage and are relying on new grandma Doria for help, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to employ a nanny, chef or a team of staff at their Windsor home, says royal author Katie Nicholl.

The new parents are being looked after by “indispensable” Doria, 62, who has been staying with the couple for the past few weeks.

Katie told Grazia that the couple are currently having a “scaled down team”, and it seems they're keen to maintain some normality away from the public eye.

It is thought the couple will get a nanny in due course, but some reports have claimed she is looking for American candidates – and haven't ruled out employing a 'manny' either.

Meghan is known to be a passionate cook, and used to publish recipes on her now-defunct lifestyle website The Tig, which she ran before she met Prince Harry.

And her first solo project in the royal family was to launch a community cookbook, in support of those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Doria, who was Meghan’s only family member to attend the wedding, flew from LA to London before the birth of her grandson.

The source told Katie: “Doria has been helping out, she has been indispensable.”

The dedicated new grandma was pictured beaming at newborn Archie, who was born last Monday, alongside the Queen in the official photos last Wednesday.

Doria was even referenced in the palace’s birth announcement, which hinted at the key role she is expected to play in Archie’s life.

The announcement said: “The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.”

Although she is being very hands-on in her family’s life at the moment, she is not expected to relocate from LA entirely.

Across the pond she works as a yoga instructor and has currently cancelled her classes, and has employed a house-sitter and dog walker for her beloved two pooches.

She is said to have a suite of rooms available to her at Frogmore Cottage, and sources have said she will be a “frequent” visitor.

Her attentive behaviour following the birth is very different to that of Harry’s family.

Although the Queen and Prince Philip met the baby shortly after the birth, his own dad Prince Charles is yet to see the tot.

The palace confirmed that Prince William and Kate Middleton met the baby over a week after their nephew was born.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie said on Good Morning America: “Archie's first week at home with mum and dad was quiet, they wanted that personal space with their newborn.

“This week it's all about the visitors, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visiting tomorrow and the Prince of Wales visiting later this week.”

We shared how Archie could help change Meghan Markle’s ‘difficult’ image, brand expert claims.

It is thought Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘will NOT reveal Archie’s birth certificate’.

And Archie's moniker is also believed to be a tribute to Princess Diana, who has an ancestor called Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll.
