Mark Wahlberg is taking a walk down memory lane! On Thursday, the 48-year-old actor shared a throwback video on Instagram of him and pal Leonardo DiCaprio on the set of their 1994 movie The Basketball Diaries. In the film, Leo and Mark play best friends Jim Carroll and Mickey, and the clip — which was from an old ET interview — proves just how far back they go. “Are we friends? Yeah, we’re friends. Right, Mark?” a then-19-year-old Leo asks Mark. “Friends till the end,” Mark replies.

Even though the two appeared like close friends during the interview, Mark later opened up in 2018 about their rocky start before shooting the film. “He didn’t want me for the part, and I didn’t think he was right for the part,” Mark recalled during the LEAP Foundation conference. “We both had to really learn how to respect each other, and we earned it.” Thankfully, Leo and Mark were able to put their differences aside and are now close buds. In fact, the two “play ball in real life” and have an annual basketball game at Mark’s house.
