Michael Bloomberg defended Patti Harris from chauvinists, says new book
Mike Bloomberg was furious after he sent his former deputy Patti Harris to a nonprofit’s all-male board meeting in his place — and learned that they’d constantly referred to her as “Mike’s girl” during the meeting, according to a new book.
The tome claims that the former NYC mayor was so angry that he returned to the next board meeting with Harris — and referred all their questions to her. Harris is now the CEO of Bloomberg’s foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies.
The 1995 incident — before Bloomberg became “Mayor Mike” in January 2002 — is recounted in a new book, “The Many Lives of Michael Bloomberg,” by New York Times writer Eleanor Randolph . A source told us, “The rest of the board finally got the message: Patti was Mike’s go-to person.”
We’re told that aides fully cooperated with Randolph for the book, out Sept. 10, and that Bloomberg’s people are “embracing” the tome.
