Melania Trump’s sweet fashion nod to Princess Diana at Buckingham Palace

OK so while not everyone in the UK is exactly jumping for joy about Donald Trump’s state visit there’s one teeny tiny silver lining – Melania.

This women is fierce in the fashion arena and knows her way around a designer outfit like-no-other.

Lets face it, the Americans just seem to take power dressing to another level.

Bigger, bolder (but not always better) it’s in their blood.

And Melania, with her modelling credentials, has an innate ability to eclipse everyone else around her with her First Lady style.

Before she’d even boarded Air Force One in Washington Melania had already been praised for wearing a Gucci dress printed with London landmarks Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

The £3,500 long sleeve midi dress also had London buses printed on it.

And when she touched down at London’s Stanstead airport the praise continued when she emerged wearing a £650 Burberry pussy bow blouse printed with medals in tribute to D-Day veterans.

Melania clearly meant business dressed in a sleek skirt suit with the jacket worn loosely on her shoulders.

Within 12 hours Melania had changed into her third outfit of the day.

For lunch with her majesty at Buckingham Palace she opted for a figure hugging dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

She teamed the white dress with a neat navy collar and matching belt with a wide brimmed hat by Hervé Pierre – which also had a navy trim.

Before Melania’s arrival the milliner had posted a sketch of the bespoke hat on Instagram .

Melania's Dolce & Gabbana outfit matched the Duchess of Cornwall's all white ensemble.

Chic and stylish, the outfit was immediately compared to Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.

Others were quick to praise her outfit drawing comparisons to Princes Diana who loved white and navy and wore it on several occasions, most memorably to the 50th anniversary of VJ Day in 1995 and to Royal Ascot in 1985.
