Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ask for charity donations instead of baby gifts
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are doing yet another good deed.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced via their official Instagram Friday that the royal couple, who are expecting their first child, would like fans to donate to charities instead of sending baby gifts.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support in anticipation of the birth of their first child,” the post read. “If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks.”
Markle, 37, and Harry, 34, shared four organizations that specialize in helping children and parents in need. The list included Lunchbox Fund, Little Village HQ, WellChild, and Baby2Baby.
The royals said they will highlight more information about the charities in the next few days. The post added, “The Duke and Duchess remain appreciative for your warm wishes and kindness during this especially happy time in their lives! Thank you for sharing the love.”
On Friday, Markle and Harry received at least 97 soft toys and teddy bears, 146 books, among other presents while on their royal trip to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, according to The Telegraph.
Palace policy reportedly permits the Duke and Duchess to keep some of the presents in their home at Frogmore Cottage, but the remainder are given away to other children who are part of a charity.
Markle is due to give birth this spring.
