Mariah Carey Claims She and Former Assistant Reached Out Settlement in 2017

AceShowbizMariah Carey wants her former assistant’s lawsuit thrown out, as she claims the pair reached a settlement two years ago.

Back in January, the “We Belong Together” hitmaker sued Lianna Azarian, who also goes by the name Lianna Shakhnazaryan, alleging she had misspent money on business credit cards, filmed her without consent and had threatened to release embarrassing videos.

Lianna then filed her own lawsuit against Mariah and her former manager Stella Bulochnikov, among others, making numerous allegations including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, emotional distress, and battery.

Mariah, 48, denies the allegations made by her former assistant, and according to new court documents obtained by The Blast, the pop icon wants to see the case thrown out as she alleges the pair reached a settlement in 2017.

The outlet reports that when Mariah split with Australian businessman James Packer in 2016, she reached a multi-million dollar settlement with the billionaire. As part of that agreement, Lianna allegedly signed away her rights to sue Mariah.

The former assistant claims she did not know what she was doing, and said the lawyer that represented her and the singer “did not have her best interests at heart”.

Lianna denies all allegations of wrongdoing, and claims any actions she took were in response to legitimate business necessities.

The case is ongoing.
