Coronation Street cast: ‘I felt terrible’ Faye Brookes addresses Gareth Gates’ ‘mistake’

Faye Brookes addressed husband-to-be Gareth Gates’ Twitter error, confirming she wasn’t angry with him. The actress, 31, who has played Kate Connor in Coronation Street since 2015, said the singer made an “innocent” error. Issues arose after the Pop Idol hitmaker, 34, seemingly gave away a spoiler during a dramatic episode of the ITV soap following the factory roof collapse. A heartbreaking instalment followed and saw her on-screen love interest Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) die.

However, Gareth had tweeted about how the scene ended a little too early, writing: “So proud of my lady @faye_brookes in @coronationstreet – such amazing TRUE acting.

“Sad to lose the beautiful and incredibly talented @bhavnalimbachia,” minutes before Rana’s demise had aired.

Speaking to the latest issue of OK! Magazine, the popstar and his fiancée revealed what had happened.

He started: “It was a complete accident. We were out having some drinks when it aired and I lost track of time and thought it had already played out on screen.

“I felt terrible!”

Faye continued: “It was an innocent mistake and he felt really bad. I know fans were upset but he was proud of me and wants to share that with his followers.

“Most viewers knew Rana was going to die so he didn’t really give away the ending. I wasn’t angry with him and nor were ITV.”

She went on to address the posts she had retweeted from fans, who gushed about the on-screen portrayal.

“I was proud of the response we got and I wanted to applaud everyone; myself, Bhavna, the cast and crew for what we had done,” she stated.

“I also wanted to thank the fans by reposting what they were saying. I knew some people said I was showing off but I really wasn’t.”

One of them read: “Well… I am truly heartbroken @Faye_Brookes @BhavnaLimbachia.”

Another upload read: “Corrie is definitely reprising the ‘IT’S BACK ON!!!’ kind of episodes #Corrie.”

Meanwhile, it comes just weeks after Faye gushed about another person in her life via her Instagram.

Speaking out about her PA, she stated: “The girl behind the scenes, the one who makes me feel brave, the one who is whispering in my ear ‘You got this’. The one who’s got my back matter what…

“Always supportive. Always with good advice. Saves my life every time. Shout out to you gorgeous little one @carlyhaypa #womenempoweringwomen #strong #bosslady #empire #future #excited #personalassistant #memories #life #love #laugh #happy #proud.”
