Carol Kirkwood: BBC weather presenter corrects BBC Breakfast after awkward Twitter error

Carol Kirkwood, 57, responded to BBC Breakfast after they shared a snap of the weather forecaster alongside her co-star Gareth Harvey, as the pair posed for a morning selfie. Initially, the meteorologist shared the photo with her 155,000 Twitter followers, which she captioned: “Morning from @Garethharvey and me! @bbcweather @BBCBreakfast.” The broadcaster took the opportunity to share in the workplace camaraderie as they retweeted the picture and wrote: “Good Morning. We’re loving this pic of @carolkirkwood and her producer. Bit cooler today after temps reached 28.8C yesterday in Weybourne in Norfolk. “The warmest day of the year so far anywhere in the UK.”

But the Scottish native corrected the corporation as she stated Gareth was in fact a duty forecaster and not a show producer.

She said: “Lovely @Garethharvey is actually our Duty Forecaster this morning – we don’t have Producers at this time of day.”

In the cheeky snap, Carol can be seen beaming into the camera as her blonde tresses dangled over her companion.

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as one person wrote: “Every photo of @carolkirkwood is a joy. Contagious smile.”

Another person quipped: “Are they still in bed?” referring to the show’s producers.

While a third person added: “So producers get a lie in every morning? Typical!”

Meanwhile, Carol delivered the latest forecast on BBC Breakfast where she informed viewers to expect cooler temperatures today.

She said: “Some showers in Scotland and Nothern Ireland will be heavy, possibly thundery, at times, with a brisk wind.

“Fewer showers in England and Wales. Noticeable breeze and a fresher feel. Temperatures with highs of 20 degrees celsius.”

Elsewhere, the small-screen star recently gushed over her colleague Mike Bushell to congratulate him on his wedding day.

The BBC weather favourite addressed the “happy couple” as she shared a snap taken on their special day.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Carol shared a snap of the broadcaster, 53, and his new wife, marketing executive Emily Bond, 39.

She wrote: “Congratulations to the gorgeous happy couple…. @mikebreakfast and his beautiful wife.”

Mike sported a navy suit with a blue shirt and a pink tie, while clutching a drink in his hand.

Emily looked gorgeous in a white wedding gown with her blonde tresses in an up ‘do.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays and Saturday from 6am on BBC One.
