An 83-Year-Old Woman Was Hit By Prince William And Duchess Kate's Convoy

Prince William and Duchess Kate might want to think about downgrading their dress-up couture from Royalty’s Finest to Sir Bargain’s Discount Depot. Because they might need to free up a couple bucks in their budget if they get sued by the 83-year-old lady their convoy hit. But then again, the 83-year-old lady could get sued for messing up the royal motorcade bumper.

According to BBC News, the woman identified only as Irene was injured on Monday by a police motorcycle belonging to William and Kate’s motorcade convoy. William and Kate were traveling from London to Windsor for a service commemorating the Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel. The collision reportedly happened south-west of London in Richmond at around 1:00 pm. Irene was immediately taken – as the Brits would say – to hospital. She’s reportedly in serious, but stable, condition. Kensington Palace released a statement on the incident:

“Their Royal Highnesses have sent their very best wishes to Irene and her family and will stay in touch throughout every stage of her recovery.”

The incident is also being investigated by The Independent Office for Police Conduct. The IOPC also released a statement, saying they arrived on scene after the collision happened, and they’ve decided to launch an investigation. William and Kate have reportedly sent flowers to Irene. I’m sure Irene appreciated such generosity, but Kate gets the flowers free from her garden. She should hold out for a jewel bouquet or a solid-gold bedpan; anything she can sell until a royal apology check arrives in the mail.

Prince Philip has a tendency to throw his unfiltered two-cents into any situation. So I have to wonder what he had to say. “William! I heard you were hitting on an 83-year-old woman? First Rose Hanbury, now elderly women? Oh…hit with a car. Ah, I see. Well I guess somebody’s got to keep up the family tradition of hitting civilians.
