Ace Frehley Shares Cover Of Deep Purple’s ‘Space Truckin”

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has shared a cover of Deep Purple‘s “Space Truckin” and an animated video for the track.

Frehley had drummer Matt Star and keyboard player Rob Sabino backing him up for the cover. eOne’s Ken Gullic directed the video, with Chris Fequiere doing the animation work.

The track will appear on Frehley’s covers album, Origins Vol. 2, which is a sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs due out on September 18 via eOne.

“‘Space Truckin” was recorded years ago, and then I just re-recorded some parts and changed it a little,” Frehley said in a statement. “We never ended up putting it on a record, so it was just sitting around. It turned out very well. Rob Sabino is a very accomplished studio musician, and we actually grew up in the Bronx together, so we go way back.”

Frehley’s covers of Led Zeppelin‘s “Good Times Bad Times,” The Rolling Stones‘ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” the Kinks‘ “Lola” and Paul Revere and the Raiders‘ “Kicks” also will form part of Origins Vol. 2.
