Retired UK firefighter, girlfriend victims of Sri Lanka attacks
A former firefighter and his girlfriend were identified on Monday as being victims of the tragic Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka.
Bill Harrop and Sally Bradley, both from the United Kingdom, were vacationing in the country when they were killed in the series of devastating suicide bombings that left at least 290 dead and injured more than 500, according to The Huffington Post.
The assistant fire officer of Harrop’s former rescue service told the website that Harrop worked at the department for 30 years and retired in 2012.
“This is devastating news and the thoughts of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are with Bill and Sally’s families,” the fire officer, Dave Keelan, said.
“He was a much loved and respected colleague and friend. He will be greatly missed.”
Harrop’s nephew, Curtis Harop, simply wrote on Facebook: “Rest in peace uncle bill.”
The couple was among eight British citizens killed in the attacks.
