Pedestrian struck and injured on highway in Peachland

A man crossing Highway 97 at Clement Crescent in Peachland on Monday evening was struck by an oncoming car.

RCMP continue to investigate but said the lighting at the intersection and weather conditions may have played a part in the accident that happened just before 6 p.m.

Highway 97 in the area is partially snow-covered.

The man was crossing the road just before the intersection on a red light trying to return back to his semi that was parked on the south side of the highway, according to police.

A car that was in the right-hand turn lane still moving toward the merge lane at Clement struck the man, police said.

The extent of the man’s injuries is unknown but police said they are not believed to be life-threatening.
