A man has been left stunned after recording a mysterious big cat running through his back garden.

The incredible footage, captured by Olly from St Albans, Hertforshire, shows the powerful feline sprint across the back garden.

After a few paces the cat, with leopard-like spots, then leaps up a high fence.

Speaking to MailOnline on Tuesday, Olly described the cat as: ‘definitely not domestic. Obviously some of these big cats are huge and this one is probably about a foot or so.’

‘It’s not the size of a normal cat, it’s got the same colours as say a leopard or a cheetah,’ he added.

He said that his wife had spotted the cat last Thursday in their back garden and ran out to rescue one of their pet rabbits kept in little enclosure outside.

‘After it happened, my wife was really scared and she called me and I could here in here voice that she was shaking.

The couple believed it would not return but the creature was back on their property the next day.

He said that cat has been seen on fields at the back of his home, near the Oakland’s College.

‘We don’t know if it’s the same one that the Oakland’s workers had seen a few years ago, for all we know it could be a different one,’ he added.

This is not the first time a big cat has been spotted in St Albans area. Back in June 2017, a taxi driver filmed a huge cat running across a road.

Jahid Choudhury was heading home along heavily-wooded Napsbury Lane, St Albans, Hertfordshire, when he spotted the powerful beige cat lurking by the side of the road.

He immediately pulled over and got out his mobile phone to record the feline who was said to have eyeballed him before calmly padding off into the trees.

‘It definitely wasn’t a domestic cat. When I stopped and reversed it just stared at me,’ said Jahid.

‘I wasn’t scared or anything. But I was shocked, it was very strange. It stared at me and then got up and went into the woods,’ he added.

In April of 2017, a dog-walker from nearby Wheathampstead stumbled across the mutilated corpse of a muntjac deer.

The deer had been brutally killed and stripped amid growing fears that a massive cat was on the loose.

Earlier in January, two Oaklands College staff members spotted ‘a large, sandy-coloured cat’.
