Mum ‘who ate raw chicken at KFC’ was violently ill ‘for months’ with stomach parasite and intestinal infection – The Sun

A MUM is planning to sue KFC after eating a piece of chicken she claims was under cooked caused her to be violently ill.

Alyssa Lee bought the meal from a KFC store near Townsville, Australia on April 16 as a treat for her young family.

The 25-year-old claims she had eaten two pieces of the chicken before breaking a piece of thigh up for her two-year-old son and noticing it seemed under cooked.

The veterinary science student said she contacted the store immediately and again the next day, but was unable to get through, Daily Mail Australia reports.

She said: “Finally on the second day of trying someone answered and they asked me to send through the pictures.

“I sent them through to a mobile number and didn't receive a reply so I went down to the store.”

The store manager filled out an incident report and asked if Alyssa wanted a refund or replacement

She added: “I said I wanted a refund because I wasn't interested in eating KFC any more as it put me off.”

LEGAL ACTION

Alyssa said in the following days she became “incredibly unwell”.

The mum went on: “When it was worst, I had my head in a toilet bowl most of the day, if I wasn't in the toilet I was in bed.

“I had to ask friends and family to look after my son because I couldn't.”

I had my head in a toilet bowl most of the day.

The mother-of-one had two visits from a home doctor and a trip to her GP as her symptoms worsened, and was diagnosed with intestinal infections sapa virus, noro virus, and stomach flu, as well as a parasite called Giardia Instestanils.

In a post on Facebook she revealed she was pursuing legal action writing: “This post has been approved by my solicitor and does NOT fall under defamation/slander. I was absolutely sure to run all of this past him first.

“I currently have a law suit happening as I purchased raw chicken back in April which made me incredibly sick for weeks.

“I contracted 3 stomach infections and a parasite.

“Spent weeks fighting these off, had to take medication I was allergic to as it was the only one that would get rid of the parasite, which I had to have 3 rounds of.”

Glenn Brown, a solicitor from Shine Lawyers who is representing Ms Lee, said a claim has been made directly to the store, but he would take the case to court if the matter is not resolved.

A spokesman for KFC said: “We are sorry to learn of Mrs Lee’s illness, but we do not believe this was caused by KFC.

“As this is a legal issue, we cannot comment further.”
