A family who spent £10,000 over four years trying to find their missing cockapoo are offering another £3,000 for her return.

Dawn Purvis, 46, hired pet psychologists, travelled across the country and paid for mass emails to be sent out in her endless attempts to trace her dog.

Even four year after the day Izzy the cockapoo was spooked away from their home in Radcliffe, Manchester, by a workman setting off the house alarm, the family have not given up.

Dawn slept on the sofa for months when the families fluffy blonde cockapoo first went missing in February 2015.

And on the fourth anniversary of her disappearance Dawn is offering £3,000 to anyone who can offer information that brings her now nine-year-old dog back home.

The management accountant described losing Izzy as ‘a complete nightmare’ and even though she has already spent £10,000 says she would spend more if it meant her dog was returned.

Dawn Purvis, 46, and her husband Ian, 48, have spent £10,000 since their dog went missing trying to find out what happened to her and bring her home

She said: ‘Izzy is a huge part of our family and not knowing where she is has been heart-breaking.’

Dawn and her husband Ian, 48, met with pet mediums across the UK to try to find out if their beloved pet is still alive.

And the couple have worn ‘Find Izzy’ t-shirts to dog shows miles away from home in the effort to raise awareness of their loss.

Happier times: Ian and Dawn with their pup Izzy before she ran away from home and never returned in February 2015

Izzy and Ian used to be so close the pooch followed him to work. The couple were so devastated when she ran away they travelled around the country wearing ‘Find Izzy’ t-shirts

She said: ‘We’ve put posters and banners up everywhere, we’ve had leaflets and paid for mass emails to be sent.

‘I have met with a pet psychologist to try and trace her footsteps.

‘I’ve met with pet mediums across the UK to find out whether they believe she’s still alive.

‘Ian and I have driven to dog shows wearing our ‘Find Izzy’ t-shirts and have stayed overnight all over the country in a bid to try and track her down incase she had been sold to someone else.

‘We have spent around £10,000 in total but it’s not the monetary value we care about it’s the emotional toll it has had on all of us as a family.’

The family refuse to stop looking for their dog. Dawn knows her loss does not compare to that of losing a child but she loved Izzy and is still devastated four years after the cockapoo ran away

Dawn refuses to give up as the pain of losing her cockapoo never goes away.

And several hoax calls from fraudsters pretending to have found their dog has only made it worse.

Dawn added: ‘It doesn’t get any easier as time passes, we are in constant limbo and we’ve had numerous hoax calls over the years which have been devastating too.

‘She’s still registered on DogLost UK four years on and we’re just praying for a miracle.

‘I never imagined we’d still be looking for her now, I still get very upset about it all.

‘I don’t understand how something can just vanish, we are so desperate for her to return home.

The family printed leaflets and posters asking anyone who might have found their dog to bring her home

‘For anyone who thinks I shouldn’t still be looking for her, or even has her and doesn’t want to give her back, I would ask them to walk a day in my shoes.’

Izzy escaped from her home when a workman entered her house and accidentally set the alarm off.

The pooch dashed out the door and as the workman tried to get her back in the house she ran away and has not been seen since.

Dawn said: ‘I know it doesn’t compare to losing a child but Izzy was our baby and we love her so much.’

A spokesperson from DogLost UK said: ‘Since the day Izzy went missing, Dawn and her family have been extremely proactive in raising awareness for her; it’s true testament to the fact that Izzy is a much-loved and hugely missed part of their family.

‘They have never given up on her and have done everything possible to find her and bring her home.

‘We want to encourage anyone who knows what happened to Izzy or may have acquired Izzy, not knowing she was was a missing member of this family, to please get in touch with DogLost directly on 0844 800 3220.
