Man guilty of rape and killing of British girl, 15, in India

A beach shack worker has been convicted of the rape and killing of a British teenager in India.

Scarlett Keeling, 15, was abused on a tourist beach in Goa and her body was found covered in 50 injuries.

Samson D’Souza, 36, now faces life in jail after he was found guilty of five charges at Bombay's High Court.

But a second man, Placido Carvalho, who was accused of leaving the schoolgirl to die after drugging and sexually abusing her was acquitted at the same court.

Since the horrific 2008 crimes, Scarlett's mum has been fighting for justice.

Fiona MacKeown, 55, told Mirror Online of her pain earlier this year.

The mother-of-nine said: "I'm disappointed that Scarlett's killers are still free to walk the streets.

"We're going through the court process but it feels empty.

“I can't bare thinking that her killers may never be caught.

"Scarlett was a good girl, she deserves better than this.”
