Jack Morrad missing – Body found in lake in search for 28-year-old who vanished nearly two weeks ago

The search for the 28-year-old has been put on hold after the discovery was made this morning in the fishing lake in Gloucester Park, Basildon, Essex.

Jack went missing after a night out 12 days ago and earlier this week police decided to drain the lake in search of his body.

The body found in the lake has not yet been identified but the search for Jack has been put on hold and his family has been informed.

On December 31 police released CCTV footage of the last time Jack was seen.

He vanished at 2am on December 23 after leaving Colors nightclub in Basildon.

He had been to see a West Ham football match with friends on December 22 and headed to the nightclub after The Beehive, a bar next door.

It is believed he was heading towards the park during his last moments.

After an extensive search of Gloucester Park, the decision to drain the lake in search of Jack was "not taken lightly" according to police.

Stars of TOWIE and Love Island, as well as X Factor's Rylan Clarke had joined the search for Jack.

An appeal was posted to JustGiving to raise money for adverts to help find him.

Rylan shared the appeal to his Instagram page to aid the search, writing: "Basildon area Essex. If anyone has any information call the number. Hope he’s found."

In a statement, Essex Police said: “Officers searching the fishing lake in Gloucester Park, Basildon, as part of the investigation to find Jack Morrad have suspended their search following the discovery of a man’s body.

“The discovery was made shortly before 11.30am today, January 3.

“Formal identification will take place in due course.”
