Halifax man charged after allegedly driving on sidewalk, striking vehicle and fleeing

A 26-year-old man from Halifax is facing charges after he was allegedly driving erratically in the city’s west end Tuesday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say they received a report at around 10:30 a.m. of a vehicle that had been driving on the sidewalk.

A short time later, officers received word that a vehicle of the same description had struck another vehicle in the parking lot of 278 Lacewood Drive. The driver then fled the area.

“Information was then received that a similar vehicle had crashed into a residence on Southhill Drive in Halifax and the driver had fled on foot,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

Officers located the driver a short time later in the area. He was arrested without incident.

Police say no injuries were reported.

Todd Michael Kennedy is slated to appear in Halifax provincial court on Wednesday to face charges of dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
