Father shot, daughter injured in New Jersey home invasion: cops

A New Jersey man was shot, and his daughter was hurt, by attackers who broke into their home Tuesday morning, police said.

The 43-year-old and his 18-year-old daughter were inside their home on Equality Court in Mount Laurel around 3 a.m. when two men broke in through a back window and ordered them to hand over their money, Mount Laurel police wrote in Facebook post.

At some point during the burglary, the intruders shot the father in his leg and hit the teenager on the head with an unspecified object, cops said.

He handed over cash, and the suspects are believed to have fled in a car parked in the area.

“[I]t is clear that the suspects targeted this residence,” the post states. “Investigators believe this was not a random act and there is no ongoing threat to the community.”

Both victims were taken to Cooper Hospital with non-critical injuries. Two others who were inside the house at the time were not injured.
