Davos: World leaders lambast protectionism

Several world leaders seemed to have a message to deliver to President Trump as they spoke out against protectionism and populism.

    World leaders have issued a defence of globalisation and multilateralism at the World Economic Forum in Davos – all apparently aimed at a particular guest.

    But the politics of Davos go beyond Trump.

    The spotlight also fell on the new leadership in Africa: the likely next South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is there; as is Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
