Bradley Welsh murder: Man charged over shooting of Trainspotting 2 actor in Edinburgh

A MAN was today charged over the murder of Trainspotting 2 star Bradley Welsh.

The boxing gym boss, 48, was shot in the back of his head with a sawn-off shotgun outside his £500,000 flat in Edinburgh last month.

A 28-year-old man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

He has also been charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old  man and the serious assault of a man, 22, in the city on March 13.

Welsh was shot from behind outside his home seconds after he chatted to a neighbour in Edinburgh's plush West End.

His long-term partner Emma and daughter Eva, eight, were inside.

DAUGHTER WAS INSIDE

A shocked local turned after hearing a single gunshot and saw the T2 star tumbling down steps to his basement flat as a man ran away.

He raced to help Welsh but he was already dead.

The killing sent shockwaves through Edinburgh where the ex-boxing champ and former Hibs footie casual helped run the Helping Hands anti-poverty charity.

He also featured in Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men telly series and was jailed for terrorising estate agents after moving into the security trade.

But he turned his life around and started acting before appearing in the Trainspotting sequel.

In the 2017 hit, T2, he played gangland boss Doyle who owns seedy saunas in Edinburgh.

Police investigating his death said they would look at his past, including his "association, friendships and business contacts".

Local cops said: "A man has been charged in connection with the murder of 48-year-old Bradley Welsh.

"He is also charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old man and the serious assault of a 22-year-old man on March 13.

"Members of the public are thanked for their assistance with both of these investigations."
