Boris Johnson's girlfriend Carrie Symonds calls him 'Bozzie Bear' and he calls her 'Otter'

PM-hopeful Boris Johnson is nicknamed "Bozzie Bear" by his girlfriend – while he calls her his "Otter", it has been revealed.

PR guru Carrie Symonds made her official debut as the Brexiteer's "First Lady" this week as she watched him launch his campaign.

And the couple's doting nicknames have been revealed, with Carrie dubbed "Otter" and Boris called “Bozzie Bear” – after Fozzie, the big, fluffy-haired Muppet.

The former Tory aide, 31, has this week been credited with helping the PM-hopeful with an image revamp.

The environmental campaigner, who quit her job after her relationship with Bo-Jo emerged last year, is reportedly behind his weight loss and new haircut.

She reportedly even encouraged him to stop drinking to help him shed a few pounds – as well as cut back on unhealthy snacking on cheese and chorizo.

It comes as Boris Johnson stormed ahead in the race to No10 after a landslide win in the Tory leadership election.

BO-GO!

The Brexiteer big beast won more than twice as many votes as nearest rival Jeremy Hunt – with Michael Gove and Dominic Raab trailing behind.

Andrea Leadsom, Esther McVey and Mark Harper were all knocked out after failing to reach the required threshold of 17 votes to proceed further.

The huge victory for Boris in the secret ballot cements his frontrunner status and will give him huge momentum for the second round next week.

He is now heavy favourite to become the next Prime Minister – Ladbrokes put his odds at 1/5 with Mr Hunt on 7/1 and Mr Stewart at 16/1.

If Boris, 54, wins, Carrie is expected to move into No 10 with him.

They have lived in South London since their romance emerged last year.

Boris last year split with his wife of 25 years, Marina Wheeler.

And as news of his new relationship with Carrie was revealed, the ex-Foreign Secretary likened her to an otter — and wrote a gushing article about their aroma.

Carrie also enigmatically tweeted a photo of the mammal, writing: “Otters have the thickest fur of all animals.”

SHE 'CARRIES' IT WELL

SHE has been credited for giving Boris Johnson a makeover, but it seems Carrie Symonds has also had a transformation.

She has swapped her miniskirts and colourful frocks for a smarter and more classic look this week —   a £199 Karen Millen leopard-print shirt dress, in sultry dark red.

Carrie has also ditched her bleached blonde locks and fake tan for a more demure look.

BoJo is now heavy favourite to become the next Prime Minister – Ladbrokes put his odds at 1/5 with Mr Hunt on 7/1 and Mr Stewart at 16/1.

Mr Johnson said: "Thank you to my friends and colleagues in the Conservative & Unionist Party for your support. I am delighted to win the first ballot, but we have a long way to go."

He took 114 votes – more than a third of the total – meaning he is almost certain to be one of the two candidates on the shortlist which party members will vote on next month.

It comes after he pledged to deliver a super-fast Brexit as part of his campaign to become Prime Minister.

Bojo promised he had the “guts and the courage” to take Britain out of the EU by Oct 31. And he told MPs the time had come “to remember our duty to the people and the reasons for the Brexit vote”.

During his near 20 minute speech, Mr Johnson insisted he wasn’t “aiming” for a No Deal but that Britain had to prepare “vigorously” for such an outcome to convince Brussels that the Government was serious about leaving.

Challenged repeatedly about whether the country could “trust” him given the furious opposition of some ministers to his campaign, Mr Johnson insisted the line-up of Tory MPs proved he had the support of the party.

And he vowed to lift the nation from its mood of despair – saying that Britain had been achieving “Grand Prix” performance levels without “firing on all cylinders”.
